CM: Giroud and Milan have mutual desire to renew but striker makes key request

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not yet been able to reach an agreement with Olivier Giroud over a new contract and one key demand might be behind it, a report claims.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, Giroud is happy at Milan and the positive feeling is mutual as the Rossoneri are very happy with the performance of the French striker. There is a common will to move forward together, however a deal has not been struck yet.

The source states that Giroud – who will turn 37 in September – is wanting a two-year extension in order to renew with Milan, therefore a deal that runs until 2025.

It is not stated what Milan have offered or if they have even put a bid forward yet, however there have been widespread reports stating that directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are aiming for a one-year extension with an option for a second year.

  1. Lets not extend his contract at all. As long as we have geriatric ward patients on our payroll, we won’t sign anything young or capable. We need to get rid of them, not extend their contracts.

    1. LOL. Yeah, let’s be depended on Lazetic & Origi next season! They have been in superb form and scored 1 goal already when we’ve crossed the halfway-line of the season.

Giroud is one of the reasons why Milan are still 2nd in the table. Without him we’d already be out of top-6.

      1. He is the only reason we’re not forced to invest into a young competent striker. Him and Ibra. As long as they are around, management can lie to themselves that they have someone in that position, even though that someone is either elderly one legged guy with a god complex and soon to be elderly PL bench warmer.

We need to get rid of Giro, Ibra, Rebic, Assias, Salad, Brahim, Gabbia, Ballon, Baka, Origi, Mirante, Dracula, Pobega. They are all either too old or Serie C quality. Only then we can start building on healthy foundation.

Well… Thank God Milan is wealthy enough to replace all those players with world-class performers who’s pricetag is 30-50M€ each. Right? That sounds plausible and sane, right?

        2. Since you are Shiva, can you make money from leafes to replace all off that players you are mentioned….my god Shiva??
          🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👎👎👎👎👎👎

    2. Shiva used to make some sensible comments but these days ur off the rocker. You want to not re-sign our only striker that delivers something tangible

      1. He thinks Milan has the money to replace him with a 50-70M€ unproven young flop and then buy the RW (and trequartista, and CB and backup GK and and and…) we’ve been missing for years too. 😀 😀 😀

  2. I think it’s fine with 2 years, but AC Milan should also have a request then – a 500k or 1m lower salary.

I mean, he is already turning 37 soon.

    1. So is Dzeko. He still produces results. Plenty of 40-year-olds who still make the difference. Would you rather have Lazetic & Origi waste chances and score 1 goal (combined) or watch the 3rd best striker at WC continue doing his thing in Milan?

  3. Giroud is still a beast so 2 year extension shouldn’t be a problem. I bet, if we have a player like Pirlo who would feed Giroud with great balls, the frenchman would easily score 20 goals per season. This is a miracle what he is doing now as we literally play without any good player in the midfield. And we used to have Pirlo, Kaka, Seedorf and many other great players who actually knew how to pass the ball to the striker…

  4. Pioli can’t stay on top. He has spent so many years to get to the top. His ambition is fulfilled no matter what
Get us a coach who is familiar with getting to the top and staying on top.
Let’s not push last season’s luck too far. We need a coach who can bully the management into getting the players he wants.
