CorSport: Giroud to meet Milan after World Cup final – a mutual desire exists

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon sit down with Olivier Giroud to discuss a renewal that the striker has very much earned through his work over the past 18 months, a report claims.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, the renewals of the best players remain one of the main priorities of the Rossoneri management for the coming months, but it does not just refer to Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer.

Giroud will also sit at a table with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to discuss extending his current deal which will expire at the end of the season. At 36 years old, the Frenchman is in stellar condition as his exploits at the World Cup have shown.

The sensations regarding a renewal agreement are very positive on both sides. Olivier is feeling good at Milan, a team that has revived his career and given him a second great chance in the national team, while he feels like a dressing room leader too.

Once the World Cup is done – hopefully with Giroud as a world champion once again – the meeting will take place and a deal could be struck quickly.

  1. If Oli won his second World Cup, that would be a big mental booster for any Milan young players to work hard and win a scudetto / champions league.

    1. Giroud winning his 2nd world cup will be a boost for Milan younger players to win the champions league only if he brings back to Milano with him Mbappe, Dembele, Griezman, Tchouameni, Konate…

          1. You live in reality where:

            – last season Milan with much cheaper squad compare to expensives Juve and Inter squad can win a scudetto.

            – a small club like Monza can win over Juve.

            – an unknown small club name Alcoyano humiliated Real Madrid at Copa Del Rey.

            – Not a club but it’s still a reality that Japan won against giants like Germany and Spain in this year World Cup.

You need to smell more reality, chump.

          2. You said Milan can win the Champions League just off of
the mental booster by Giroud winning the World Cup. But now you are giving examples of little clubs beating a big club in 1 game. Did any of those little teams win the tournament?
            NO.
Having a cheaper squad doesn’t mean you have a lower quality squad. Milan, Inter, and Juventus are on the same level quality wise, playing in the same low quality league. That’s why no serie A team has won a European cup in the last 12 years. In Champions League, you play 2 games, not 1, where you can get lucky and catch a big team on a bad day. How many little teams have won the UCL?
As always, you are just GRASPING AT STRAWS
