GdS: Giroud hoping to thrive under the spotlight of La Scala del Calcio again

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan need to start scoring again quickly and they must cling to Olivier Giroud, starting tonight against Genoa at San Siro.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be away from the pitch for at least another ten days, so La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how the Frenchman is now under pressure to score again, but he has already shown that he can do it at San Siro.

Since his first official match at the Meazza against Cagliari in August – in which he scored a brace – he has struck a chord with the iconic stadium. Of the 8 goals scored in the league season, 7 were at San Siro but not all ‘at home’ given his brace in the derby comeback win against Inter.

Giroud often takes the stage when he is illuminated by the spotlights of La Scala del Calcio and the only goal that came away from Milano was the winner against Napoli. With only four goals in Milan’s last six games, almost none of the forwards can be satisfied, and it has catapulted Giroud into the eye of the storm where he tends to deliver best.
