This afternoon, Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Jean Philippe Mateta will not play for Crystal Palace this weekend, as talks with AC Milan are intensifying.
Throughout this season, Milan have been drawn to the idea of Mateta, and it has been a lasting idea. After all, even before the summer, the Frenchman was named as a possibility. However, Palace’s high price was off-putting.

In the past few months, though, things have gone rather pear-shaped in South London, and the project is getting overhauled a little bit. Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave, and after the departure of Marc Guehi, Mateta also voiced his intention to leave.
With no budget available, it seemed the Rossoneri would not be able to partake in the proceedings. However, in the past 24 hours, things have flipped on their head.

Mateta absent for Crystal Palace
This morning it was reported that the Diavolo were in the race, and now it seems that they are the favourites to land the Frenchman. Things are certainly not wrapped up, but the next step has been taken.
As MilanNews relays, Oliver Glasner confirmed to Sky Sports UK that the striker would not be present for this weekend’s game, due to the ongoing transfer situation.

I’m sure we were looking at other profiles and the idea there was no budget wasn’t exactly accurate.
35M for this guy;; 35M for Gimenez; 40M for Nkunku…110M – why didn’t we just spend the 70-75M on Oshimen, a proven world class goal scorer and be done with it instead of another gamble???
Ahhh I forgot the resale value…but wait this kid is 28 and won’t have any either lol.
Some things never change
Gimenez and Nkuku can be sold for somewhere closer to 30mil each, the problem is Nkuku, a transfer who doesn’t make sense and even Allegri said he doesn’t know what to do with him. No idea who bought him to Milan but that was a panic buy in the last day.
