Graphic shows ‘perfectly balanced midfield’ for Milan amid Reijnders arrival

By Euan Burns -

A graphic on social media shows how AC Milan could have a ‘perfectly balanced’ midfield three with Ismael Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders.

Created by scout7calcio on Twitter, the graphic shows various metrics from Bennacer at Milan, Loftus-Cheek during his best season at Chelsea which was under Maurizio Sarri, and Reijnders at AZ Alkmaar.

Loftus-Cheek is described as being a box-to-box midfield in this midfield three, whilst Reijnders would be the best ball carrier and passer out of the three.

Bennacer is classed as the defensive player who is best at winning the ball back in this midfield three, showing the balance. This school of thought further points towards the idea that Milan is switching to a 4-3-3 formation, rather than the 4-2-3-1 that has been used for the last few seasons.

Brahim Diaz has departed and he has not been replaced, further pointing to a 4-3-3, especially with Charles De Ketelaere potentially leaving.

      1. read my comment dude. based on graphic. because benny’s salient attributes there (Tackle, ball recov, etc) are more DM. i know he’s not a natural DM and we misutilized him last year.

      2. How is Bennacer not a DM? He has all the qualities of a regista, and few of the ones required for a more advanced player.
He was brought as a CDM and played there at first at Milan. I still remember how much of an upgrade he was compared to Biglia, due to his vertical passing and dribbling. Since then, he’s improved massively at defending.
He’s everything we need for that position, as that graph clearly shows.

  1. I think Bennacer is a bit too ball oriented for playing in the middle of the mid-3. He would probably do better as a lateral CM. However he is out for most of next season anyway.

Imo ideally we get Dominguez for the central role to protect the defense.

  2. CM is enough. Now Buy good ST, RW, RLB A.S.A.P. I trust Cardinale and Furliani in the first place even when they sacked my beloved Maldini. I know this rich Yankees is smart. They will protect their investment from losses. The only way to increases the valuation of their investment is through trophies (a lot of trophies). I dont care if they love Milan or not. As long as they love their precious business invesment, they get my support

  3. I just don’t understand why some football experts are wasting their time here on the net when they can earn huge money as expert advisors for Stefano Pioli! 🤔

  4. It is going to be a 4-2-3-1 formation on that our tactics and pattern of play will advanced which will make our opponents to go through difficulties and loss midfield and this will make Milan to win easily to compare to last season
