Albert Gudmundsson, who was once heavily linked with AC Milan, has been offered to the club following Fiorentina’s decision not to redeem him.

Last summer, after bagging 16 goals and 5 assists for Genoa, Gudmundsson was mentioned as an option for the Milan attack. Fiorentina pushed heavily for the player, though, and eventually secured him on a paid season-long loan (around €5m) with an option to buy at €17m.

According to Daniele Longo, La Viola have decided not to exercise the clause in the contract and Genoa thus have to find a new club for Gudmundsson. The attacking midfielder’s entourage has already offered his services to Milan on ‘advantageous terms’, with Genoa willing to make a deal with the Rossoneri as well.

However, the meeting between Gudmundsson’s entourage and Igli Tare didn’t generate any sparks, as the latter’s response was rather cold. It remains to be seen if the hypothesis will come to life in the coming weeks, as Longo states, but for now there is nothing there.

Milan are currently focused on reinforcing the defensive flanks, the midfield and the No.9 role, with no real need for an attacking midfielder as things stand. On the other hand, Gudmundsson is a player with a lot of qualities and if the price is right, the Rossoneri might change their mind.
