It would be fair to say that there has been a volatile reaction to Hakan Calhanoglu’s decision to swap the red half of Milano for the blue side of the city.
Calhanoglu’s renewal saga has dragged on for months now and given that his deal with Milan expires in a few days, several sources have reported that his time with the Rossoneri is set to end after four years.
Indeed, numerous reports are claiming that the 27-year-old will not only leave Milan, but he will join city rivals Inter as a free agent for an offer which nets him €5m per season plus €1m in bonuses – a €1m raise based on what Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had tabled.
Below are the reactions to Calhanoglu’s move on social media, which has been overwhelmingly positive regarding Milan’s decision to let him walk…
I’m actually happy about it, he was so inconsistent

It’s like watching your toxic ex who made you miserable leave you for your rival.
Otoh, you might feel a little hurt that they chose them over you.
On the other, you’re also relieved that they’re now someone else’s problem and best of all, it’s the person that you hate.

We don’t care. Bring us a real midfield now!

Ive gone from being a huge Hakan supporter to wishing him many a loss. Still, on the devastation scale where Sheva was a 9.5 and Kaka was a 10, Hakan was a 3 before confirmato and a minus 3 after confirmato. Brring back Pessina to get the goal numbers Hakan dreams of.

Im so glad we can use more of Brahim next season…more pace, more direct passing and more penetration on the front!!!
— Lombardo (@khucays) June 21, 2021
It’s stupid to let him go. And let him go for nothing is even more stupid. Donnaruma leaving is okay, but Hakan ??
We must have to replace him with top class.— Charles Uche 🔴⚫ (@Charlesuche90) June 22, 2021
Hakan should have left earlier, and half of his salary should have been given to Gigi. I think Gigi would have accepted it, without having to pay the agent.

He seems to have a weak mentality. The only bad part is we didn’t get any transfer fee.

Won’t be missed
— Wayne (@Cutrogolazo) June 22, 2021
Seriously, he only got 3 offers despite being free. One from Milan which is understandable, then Al Duhail, then later Inter because of unfortunate Erikson situation while unable to splash money to replace him. This explain a lot about his quality. Milan won’t miss him.

A lesson for management to learn from… Either renew at least a year before the end of the contract or sell directly… and not look to kiss the logo and all this nonsense.#SempreMilan 🔴⚫️

Thank God he's gone

Can't wait for Tomori to floor him.

Good riddance
He is looser any way. I thought he can be next Bagio. I was wrong. He is sleepe guy
Who cares go hell.
He is like ozil. Not bold at all.
Go hell
This useless cacanoglue is not suppose to be in Milan since because of lack of cosistancy which even lead to their crash in euro. They only have one goal three conservative loose. Milan can now go competent trequatister
Play hauge as a playmaker . Please stop treating him so badly
