It seems as though a battle between Napoli and AC Milan could well be on the cards for Hellas Verona star Mattia Zaccagni.
Zaccagni has been one of the most impressive players for Verona since the arrival of Ivan Juric as head coach, racking up a combined 10 goal contributions in 36 league appearances this season, including 5 goals and 5 assists.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported in April that Zaccagni’s switch to join Napoli has already been defined between the clubs, but the forward has asked for some time before giving a definitive answer because the Rossoneri are an option that the player wants to evaluate very carefully as it would allow him to stay in the north of Italy.
Now, the president of Hellas Verona – Maurizio Setti – has spoken about the future of Zaccagni and in particular the links with two top Serie A sides during an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss.
“If Zaccagni will go to Napoli? We’ll see, I’ve also read about Milan. Going to a great club would mean having worked well with a strong guy and a serious professional like Mattia,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).
Not only that, but Fausto Pari – the player’s agent – also spoke about Zaccagni on the same radio station and confirmed that he is happy to hear of potential interest from Milan and Napoli.
“Mattia liked by Napoli and Milan as President Setti said? I’m happy about it. Let’s wait a few more days to see what scenarios will open.”
