Samuel Chukwueze had perhaps his best start of the season in the league on Saturday night against Fiorentina, with AC Milan emerging 2-1 winners.
Pioli chose Chukwueze to be the right winger over Christian Pulisic, but it must be remembered that the latter played a lot with the USA over the international break and returned late after winning the CONCACAF Nations League for a third time.
The Nigerian responded with a very dynamic display, earning a 7 out of 10 in our player ratings with the following assessment.
“A very nice performance by the Nigerian, putting Fiorentina in trouble whenever he got on the ball. He was also involved in the first goal and perhaps should have had an assist when he set up Giroud early on. Something to build on for sure.”
💪 @chukwueze_8 has improved a lot as of late, now playing with a lot more confidence.

Awesome to see him play like this. This one game is a Chuck highlight reel.
I think he probably played his best and most consistent game for us against fiorentina but he did nevertheless also have 3 goals and an assist before that match, He was also instrumental in that we got the third place in cl and made it available for us to participate in the europa league in the spring.
This is still Pulisic’ spot to lose, but at least with a contributing Chuk, we can rotate the flank more and move Puli into the 10 role…
Like against Leece, where RLC will be suspended. I would love to try Reijnders/Puli/Adli in midfield, Leao/Oli(Okafor)/Chuk up front.
I would love to see this as an experiment–provided Pioli drills it properly beforehand. Nevertheless it is Pulisic’s spot on the right wing to lose, as you stated.
Good idea but I’d rather musah in a double pivot and having both Puli and Chuk limits are sub options
I’ll wait a few more games to see if he can build on this, it’s definitely a solid improvement compared to the other games.
My main concern is that to me he seems more of a counter-attack type of player, so I’d like to see how he’d play against a closed defense where he gets two players marking him…
Don’t get me wrong, Leao is also more the type for counter-attacks, but he has improved on the reading of close spaces and every now and then stops, cuts inside and puts a cross, plus he also has the benefit of having Theo on his side that can give him an offensive option or take away one player. Chuk has Calabria whose offense is his weaker point and I’m not sure how good Chuk’s crosses are. Have a feeling that Chuk’s a better finisher than Leao though.
I thought he was Sh*twueze, I hope he proves me wrong
Wow aren’t you a nice person. Not.
He has plenty of skill and promise and even though he has an average season he still has better stats than CDK did for us.
So did Simic in his 2-3 games. That bar is so low its glued to the ground.
Good for Chuky. He did better than Pulisic in the CL with less minutes so thats something.
I have always said the same thing. Give him more minutes
