The second leg of AC Milan’s Champions League last 16 tie with Spurs is on the horizon, and it is worth a lot to the club’s accounts.
Milan will take a one-goal advantage to the English capital for the return fixture on March 8 after beating Tottenham 1-0 in the first match at San Siro. The only goal came from Brahim Diaz early on and it could have been an even bigger margin but for late misses, yet there is still a lead for Stefano Pioli’s side to defend.
Spurs may remain the favourites given that there is only a one-goal deficit to overcome and they have world class attacking talent, but there is an extra motivation for the Milan players because getting through the round would not only be very important from a sporting point of view but also from an economic point of view.
According to the Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), reaching the quarter-final stage of the competition is worth around €20m in revenues. Half is made up of UEFA prize money while the other half is made up by ticket sales, marketing and sponsors.
A lot of money 💰 🤑 💸
Bit is this realistic? God knows. Milan needs big luck and outstanding team work and play.
Team should focus to finish top 4 this season.
Even tho we reach the quarter or semi final. We wont get much higher fee ranking of signing player. They still want cheaper alternative players.
Milan should just give up and go back to Serie D then you’ll be happy
All we need is to score 1 goal in London and NOT receive 3 🙂
Look let’s remain optimistic..We should have won the match by more that the one goal, but I still believe we will get a result against Tottenham and get into the last eight ,beyond that who knows?
We are much improved now ,and confidence is returning to the team …
I believe will definitely finish in the top four in the scuddeto this season ..We will win against Atalanta and Olivier Giroud will score..So let’s remain confident and optimistic…We are AC Milan
Milan have one of the best coach to able to manage the players to this level but we need to know how retain our good players and to buy needed players especially goal machine and good mid-felder.
I just hope that Pioli does not ask the team to defend the 1-0 lead… Milan needs to press Spurs at the beginning of the match and they should not allow Spurs to dictate the tempo of the game! Milan should search for another goal, the we may defend and leave Leao and Giroud upfront to hit them with counter attacks!
