This season, AC Milan have regularly been sub-par, and as a result, they have been regularly criticised. Today, the latest example has arrived with Fabio Capello stating he would only keep two players.
Faults can be picked from almost everywhere this season, and this has resulted in confidence falling ahead of next year. However, with a rebuild set to take place, there may be a need to re-evaluate certain members of the current squad.
Reports have already suggested that leaders may depart, but the actual level of ‘reset’ in itself is very open to speculation, especially with no sporting director in place just yet.
Nevertheless, Capello has made his own analysis of the squad, and it is certainly not a positive one, and his piece with Gazzetta dello Sport has been relayed by Milan News.
“I save only two, Pulisic and Reijnders. All the others, for one reason or another, have performed below sufficiency. Beyond the value of the individual player, it seems to me that at AC Milan, the problem was first and foremost the general attitude.
“How many times have we seen a player lose the ball and not return? And how many, on the other hand, are chasing the opponent with desire, frothing at the mouth because you sense a dangerous situation for the team?
“Maignan, Theo and Leao? Well, have they rendered and are they rendering as much as one would expect of their potential?”
The performances of Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders would likely earn them a place in a lot of Europe’s top teams, which might make keeping the duo slightly more difficult, with interest already present in both.
I don’t think there’s any need for a reset. I think what we need is a coach with a clear plan that can enable the players to thrive. I look at Flick at Barcelona with the way he’s giving youth a chance and I wonder how we never looked at him for once when he was free. Well if we’re looking to gamble on a coach then I think Xavi (not Fabregas) is the way to go but I we’re looking to win the league within two years then Conte – and no one else – is the way to go. I just hope we don’t get to the point where we reset every season.
No, those are expensive coaches for Milan with this management. Flick gets around 12M gross per season. Xavi had the same amount. Fonseca was on 5M gross I think, Conceicao even less.
Those are noob moves. If they hired, for example, Klopp, the team would be valued about 30%, 40% more than it is now. Most players would be in a better form and there would be transfer interest in many more players. And I doubt Milan would be out of CL. But you save money on the manager and that is how it begins.
Now I’ve used Klopp as an example even though it is a bit unrealistic, but you know which coach brings you what. S
I can agree on certain points, management wants to cut corners. If you get a proper coach these problems wouldn’t exist. But instead we blow money and ruin promising players careers. It’s the sad truth even I gave these guys a chance but clearly, Gerri the terrone that he is isn’t interested in truly building the club unless we are in danger.
It’s simple, in modern football you cannot cut corners, you need to go all out, we fix one department and let another department down so there is a continuous cycle of weaknesses which teams find out and expose
Barca it’s different bro. They have La Masia, youth product that they believe with their own home grown players. And they never scare about to play it. Maybe every Barca coach have a clause that they must play the wonderkid anytime they play. Barca buy some star player to combine with their own youth products. They never scare and they have a Faith.
Maybe I’m completely wrong about this but La Liga is different to Serie A.
Serie A is much more tactical. Experience matters a lot.
With no CL a real possibility next season, the better solution is to promote Liberali. Him, Torriani, Bartesaghi, Zeroli and Camarda should be given more opportunities next season as we should focus on building up the Italian core in the team alongside Gabbia.
Ricci/ Rovella for MF, Scalvini/ Comuzzo/ Coppola for DF, and Lucca/ Colombo for ST should also be brought in to compliment the homegrown graduates.
Puli, Tijani…plus Pavlovic and Walker. Others—transfer list
