This time yesterday Zlatan Ibrahimovic harboured hopes of helping Sweden to the Qatar World Cup, but the reality 24 hours on is very different.
A Robert Lewandowski penalty and a goal from Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski were enough for Poland to book their place in the tournament later this year and that means Ibrahimovic will not participate in what could have been a final World Cup.
According to Sky (via MilanNews), Zlatan Ibrahimovic took a flight very early this morning to be present at Milanello for training today. While the Swede did not train on the pitch with the rest of the squad, he did some lighter work in the gym.
The broadcaster adds that he is the only one of the Rossoneri players who played yesterday for their national team to be present today at the sports centre, with the likes of Alessandro Florenzi, Pierre Kalulu and Theo Hernandez due back tomorrow.
