Ibrahimovic believes Milan ‘represent’ Italian football globally: “Do not look at others”

Despite going through a very difficult season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stated that he feels AC Milan are the ‘representatives’ of Italian football for the world to see.

By all accounts, this season has been a torrid one for Milan. When it has mattered most, the Rossoneri have often been sub-standard, and this has caused a great amount of damage to the club. With the possibility of another reset at the end of this season, there is definitely a lot of room for error.

It is a situation that everyone will be keen to avoid, and the Diavolo will look to their stars for the remainder of the season, and betterment in their own performances will only help their and the club’s reputation.

Amid the chaos, Ibrahimovic has spoken to GQ about the season and the club under RedBird – who have been widely criticised recently.

On RedBird’s Milan…

“Milan is the most famous club in Italy. We represent Italian football in the world. DNA, mentality, pedigree. The numbers speak for themselves. Everyone talks about us. And if they talk about us, it means we are doing something great. A new mentality.

“Our management is young, international. People with different visions, and different ambitions: there is hunger. And this is incredible. We are not afraid. This is our strength. We do what we believe in, without fear, without limits, we do things our own way.

“We do not look at others. We move forward, always. Whatever wall we find in front of us? We break it down. And trust me: we are rock and roll. Always aiming for results. We are the new school.”

If the season ends with the Rossoneri not getting Champions League football, it is certainly not a good representation of the club, that much is for sure.

  1. Yes, Milan have a great history with 7 UCLs and many other trophies. But don’t you think that it is a shame for such a club to have incompetent people like you in management?

  2. How about we work on milan representing Italian culture first. Were are the Italians in the team? You clowns continue to buy foreign trash that doesn’t work. You get rid of anything Italian about the club and now with zero identity, we are failing. This is no longer Milan. We should rename the team to AC redbird devils

  3. “We do not look at others.”

Yeah that’s evident to everyone. If you would, then you would understand why we are failing. But you have your inflated and fragile egos driving this club into the ground, thinking you know it all.

  4. How can Ibra be THIS disconnected from reality?

We can’t live of past glories. We need a team that achieves results in the present, not in the past, and these clowns that have managed the team for the last two years including Ibra, are directly responsible for the bad results.

You hear Ibra speaking and you think that the team must be first or second in the league and firmly marching towards the UCL final rounds.

Instead we are 7th domestically with very slight chances of making 4th (most likely it won’t happen), and we have been eliminated from the Champions League by the likes of Zagreb and Feyenoord!!! Our players are confused and making stupid mistakes, and the team is badly built. Our coach seems lost (although I don’t think that the bulk of the guilt resides with the coach who stepped mid-season into a sinking ship and can’t perform a miracle).

If I had to press one button and only one of three buttons, to magically make one essential change, and these were the options:

A – Fire all the incompetent managers and hire a proper scout and a proper sporting director

B – Sell the supposedly star players who are not performing and rebuild the team

C – Fire the coach and hire a new one

Even though I see the points of B and C, I would immediately reach for the A button with no hesitation.

The crisis was started from top to bottom, not from bottom to top. Get rid of the incompetent managers, hire competent ones, and things will slowly but surely get better. B or C without addressing A will just be opportunities for more mistakes by the idiotic managers and nothing will change.

    1. Totally agree.
To speak in this way when the team is in this current position. WTF!
It just makes him look like an clown not grasping reality.

  5. What incompetent and arrogant clowns. They are best at mimicking competence. Like parasites who are unable to achieve anything, they brag about the results obtained by Berlusconi.

  6. “Our management is young, international. People with different visions, and different ambitions”

FFS!!!! AND THERE LIES THE PROBLEM!!! Too blind to see it even though the man said it himself.

Young? You mean inexperienced and incompetent. Check.
International? Yeah, that has worked well. Get Italians. Check.
Different visions? FFS, everyone going solo and wanting their way? Sounds like the perfect team, now doesn’t it?
Different ambitions? Yeah, one wants to get rid of all Italians, one wants to make profit, one wants to lick Gerry’s boots…

What a wonderful management we’ve got, eh?

  7. looool, italy’s representative?? We are a disgrace to Italy now. We don’t even play italians anymore. Such a departure from the milans in the past that actually built this club

  8. We are now the Red Bird Red Devils. This isn’t AC Milan. Our Italian heritage and culture is in the mud. This season we actually ran starting lineups with 0 Italians in it, no Italian coach, no Italian management. There is nothing Italian about this team right now. Do not even call this an Italian team anymore. This is not Milan.
