GdS: Ibrahimovic suffers another injury setback while reflections over his future continue

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed yet another crucial game in AC Milan’s season last night and reflections are ongoing about his future, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that he missed the 0-0 draw against Torino due to an overload in his knee, which adds to the tendinopathy and the inflammation of his Achilles tendon that he has suffered already this season. The striking thing is that none of these are produced by a trauma or an obvious injury on the field but are rather products of fatigue and the excessive use of his body.

Reports continue to arrive from Milanello stating that the Swede is the first to arrive and the last to leave, with hours and hours of additional activity for a man who is now into his 40s. On the day of the game he was ruled out of playing against the Granata with the latest problem in his left leg after his calf, thigh and knee.

An ‘overload’ is a generic already used by the Rossoneri doctor for Ibra such as before Christmas, and that time the Swede only missed the Empoli game but perhaps thanks to the winter break. Zlatan has now missed 16 out of the 41 total games played by Milan this season and then there are several other matches in which he played just a few minutes.

It is too early to understand how long he will be out for this time, but now it is no longer a matter of only the odd injury to battle. Evaluations will take place between now and the end of the season, and he might decide to call it a day.

  1. I think it’s time to call it a day, or perhaps stop training as intensely since these are symptoms associated with over-training. I have a feeling he’d be fine if he’d play every other match, or became a super sub.

  2. Is more then time for AC Milan to focus on Scamacca you cant keep counting on one striker with 40 years!
If Ibra renews for another year we are going to have Ibra with 41 years and able to play not even half the season Giroud with 36 years old and origi with 27 years old who cant score double digits.I know that Ibra made the team grow in mentality and stuff but its time to pass the baton to the next gen.
Scamacca is perfect for our team he is young, mobile, has the hight that a number 9 needs to fight against the defenders,is italian and dont have crazy salary.
People say that 40 mm is to much people seem to forget that now you have to pay crazy prices for the best players of another team in 1987 we paid only 1 million euros for one of the best players of all time now one player has one good season you have to pay prices above 25 million for said players!

    1. You want to pay 40-50m euro just for striker that Will be sit on bench? While we can get free transfer striker like origi or belotti? AC Milan need quality starter RW and AMF that Will cost more than 30m euro each player ,it is better than wasted money on striker that Will be benched watching giroud and Ibra play
