Zlatan Ibrahimovic of AC Milan

CM: Maldini pact, worrying numbers and Investcorp’s arrival – latest on Ibra’s future

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic currently has no intention of hanging up his boots at the end of the season but his physical condition is doing its best to convince his mind otherwise.

Calciomercato.com report that Ibrahimovic has an agreement in place with Paolo Maldini to talk about his future at the end of the season with maximum transparency, during with a 360-degree analysis will be made of his physical condition because Milan need a striker who can guarantee fitness, performances and goals.

Of course, the voice of the probable new owner Investcorp – who are completing the purchase of the club from Elliott Management – will have a say too. Their plans are not yet known so no option should be excluded, but it is difficult to imagine that they would let Maldini and Massara leave and thus the plans for Ibra remain.

It is legitimate to believe that in the summer an important investment will be made in the attack, and the numbers show why it is needed: 40 goals in the first half of the season, only 18 since, with Milan going from 2.1 goals scored each match to 1.28.

Ibrahimovic scored 7 times in the first round and has netted only once in the second round, against Venezia on 9 January, showing that when he is at full fitness he still makes a difference.
