CorSera: Ibrahimovic almost certain to miss derby vs. Inter – he is aiming for Napoli

By Oliver Fisher -

As the days pass there continues to be no positive updates regarding Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future, and he is now likely to miss the derby next week.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports that Ibrahimovic will miss his fifth consecutive match tonight as the Swedish striker has not yet recovered from the inflammation in his Achilles tendon and therefore will not be available to Pioli for the match against Udinese.

His recovery seems almost impossible even for the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Inter on Tuesday, so now the 40-year-old is aiming for the big match on 6 March against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

It is a big blow for Milan to be without their on-field leader once again as what was initially believed to be a quick issue to resolve has now turned into an absence that has lasted over a month.

  1. All these should prove to Ibra and management and even Ibra’s fan boys that it’s time to re-evaluate the affair with Milan.

Ibra can’t be a starter and should honestly consider a backroom role next season, so that Belotti (or whoever Milan wants to sign can come), along with Giroud and Lazetic can be the strikers.

Not forgetting the fact that Colombo is out on loan, Nasti, Roback and Chaka Traore are growing with the Primavera. Barcelona is entrusting their teenagers with responsibilities and they’re delivering. Milan should do same.
