GdS: Ibrahimovic’s recovery continues to suffer setbacks – he may not return until the derby

By Oliver Fisher -

There continues to be an element of mystery surrounding Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s condition and when he might return to action, with the risk now of a further setback.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Swede has not yet disposed of the inflammation in his Achilles tendon and, after missing the crucial games against Inter and Lazio, he will certainly miss Sunday’s match against Sampdoria.

The striker continues to work in the gym and for this reason it might also be the case that he misses the away trip to Salernitana field scheduled for February 19, but he will be evaluated day by day in the hope that the tendon discomfort will go away.

After the match in Salerno, the Rossoneri will play at San Siro against Udinese, then the first leg of the Coppa Italia derby and Napoli are next on the schedule. That is why Zlatan’s target could be to return to the top for the match against Inter, but he will try to take advantage of the matches preceding the cup derby to find the best form.

His problem seemed to be one that would keep him out for just a few days and instead it has been plaguing him for almost three weeks now, so Olivier Giroud will continue to be relied upon.
