Ibrahimovic’s speech to squad: “This is AC Milan, we play for these trophies” – video

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave a rousing speech to the AC Milan team and staff in the dressing room after the Supercoppa Italiana triumph over Inter.

It was a very dramatic night to say the least, as Milan came from two goals down against their city rivals to win it in the last minute. Theo Hernandez and Christian Pulisic got the Rossoneri level, then Tammy Abraham netted in the third minute of added time.

Milan have shared a clip which shows the speech that Ibrahimovic said to the squad at full-time, with the message being that it must be a starting point, though a trophy is always to be celebrated.

“We’ve reached one of our aims. What we wanted was a reaction. This is our reaction guys. Before I speak, I want to compliment the coach and his staff. Great work in just a few days. Lucky he had a fever, if not he’d have broken more than a TV!” he began.

“Congratulations to the players too. You sweated to win this, made sacrifices, were hungry. When a team has this desire to win, it’s hard to be beaten. It’s hard, guys. You showed that today. At the start of the season, I said to you: ‘It all depends on us, because it’s all in your heads’.

“You showed that today. Now, we’re going back to Italy so let’s bring this mentality and pick up points to get to where we need to be. I also want congratulate everyone around the team here with us. It’s down to you too, even if you’re not famous and not on the pitch. But you’re important, just like everyone out on the pitch.

“What else do I need to say? Guys, this is AC Milan. We play for these trophies. If you want to go down in AC Milan history, you need to win titles. On 3, forza Milan. One, two, three, FORZA MILAN!”

  1. I am deeply delighted to see the team lift a trophy, in a spectacular comeback, when I personally believed we did not stand a chance.
I am conflicted still about the leadership. I think Conceicao had an amazing start, but that can be just pure luck and he has a lot to prove till the end of the season. However I admired Milan’s offensive display in the second half, so something was positively different this game.
The ownership being apathetic and Ibrahimovic full of himself, are things that remain unchanged unfortunately.
I would still want Paolo Maldini instead of “I am Zlatan, the boss”. It’s better to be mild mannered and act smartly than be pompous and disappear when things go wrong.
I still envision the strength of the legendary, european crushing team and I believe we still have a long way to go for that.

    1. Get over it, Alexis K! Stop dreaming about Maldini! He’s not there and you need to put that in your mind and enjoy what you have no matter what, otherwise you’ll never accept the reality

  2. A rousing speech. Everyone deserves credit for the sacrifices made within a few days. We worked for this, and fate favoured us. We have to pick up from here. Forza, Milan!

  3. When things go well Zlatan is front and center. Where was he a week ago… The man can’t help himself to grab some limelight.

I don’t wan’t to focus on the negative. RedBird management has made many mistakes, but bringing in Conceicao was the first step in the right direction. They still have a lot to unf**k to help bring this club where it belongs, starting with a targeted January mercato.

I sincerely hope they don’t take two giant steps back after making a massive step forward.

  4. “What else do I need to say? Guys, this is AC Milan. We play for these trophies.” Tell them Zlatan! More of this, less of the other stuff.
