GdS: Ibrahimovic sets clear target before retiring – Milan’s stance and the latest on his future

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not lost the burning desire to be decisive for his club and for his country, but his physical condition is causing concern.

As reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Ibrahimovic wanted to boost both Milan in their Scudetto race and Sweden in their quest to reach the World Cup, but it has not been the best start to 2022 for him.

No decision has been made for now about his future, but when the time comes the player and the Rossoneri management will talk together and decide what to do without any issues. A few weeks ago, in an interview, Ibra said: “I won’t stop until I win something again with Milan.”

The paper reports that his plan would therefore be to win the Scudetto or the Coppa Italia and then retire, but if he did want to go on then Paolo Maldini is ready to offer him another year deal at €3m net rather than €7m.

Ibrahimovic is thinking only of the pitch and about his physical condition for the time being, which will weigh most of all on his decision. His routines are in fact almost always special sessions and different from those of other team-mates, showing that the desire to win remains but age catches up with everyone.
