GdS: Ibrahimovic ready to sign a two-part renewal with Milan – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic seems ready to extend his contract with AC Milan for another season but with different terms compared to his usual extensions.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) write that Ibrahimovic will soon sign his renewal with the Rossoneri and it is a deal that will essentially be divided into two parts. The first part will be a low fixed amount – a ‘symbolic’ extension – while the other will be higher and will include bonuses linked to individual and team objectives.

The Swede’s post-operation rehabilitation on his left knee at his villa in Sardinia is continuing and he hopes to be back in action either in January or February of the new year, which is why the new deal is structured as it is.

In the first part of the season, when Ibrahimovic will be busy recovering, the salary will be minimal, but Milan want to keep him around because of the impact he has in the dressing room. Then when he is back on the field, there will be more money available based on appearances and goals.

  1. That’s a beautiful thing — perfect that his presence will continue to be there for the team and especially the youngest players. Great influence and then hopefully he will be fit enough in the 2nd half of the season to also make a positive impact on the pitch as well. By January, Giroud and Origi will each have 10 goals! 😉
