More signs are continuing to filter which prove AC Milan are very serious about building a new stadium in San Donato, with the latest being the plans for two cycle-pedestrian lanes.
According to a report from Il Cittadino, Milan have designed a plan which involves two cycle-pedestrian lanes being made which will bypass the ring road and the motorway respectively to reach the new stadium in the San Francesco area of San Donato.
The lanes, together with a series of road works, are among the package of solutions to make the new stadium site accessible. One would start from the the parking lot of the Quinto Palazzo Eni is located and would go over the ring road, and the other one would instead would reach the Chiaravalle area.
These works, according to the first studies carried out by Milan, should also serve the fans who would arrive on the subway. After getting off at the terminus of the M3, pedestrians heading for the stadium should take Via Marignano (Marignano Street) and come out in the San Martino district.
That means they would avoid entering the city centre of San Donato, and they would then reach the San Martino roundabout, which should be redeveloped independently from the stadium project, in order to get on the ‘walkway’ to the stadium.
For the moment, the prospect of putting the disused Milan – Genova track into operation in order to create a shuttle that would connect the Rogoredo station with that of the Quartiere Affari sector overlooking San Francesco remains in vogue.
Furthermore, among the solutions concerning the management of vehicular flows that AC Milan illustrated to the municipal administration of Francesco Squeri, the arrangement of the section of the overpass located near the Crown Plaza hotel would be added, where an access with two lanes would be created by direction of travel for incoming and outgoing flows from Milan.
Another entrance dedicated to the stadium has been hypothesised near the ring road ramp for the entrance to Poasco.
