CM: Injury at Atalanta could severely hinder Milan’s January transfer plans

AC Milan’s plans ahead of the January transfer window may well be scuppered due to an injury at Atalanta, according to a report.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, the arrival of Marco Sportiello ahead of next season has already been secured as the former Fiorentina man will not renew his contract expiring in June with Atalanta and he will move to the Rossoneri on a free transfer to be the new deputy goalkeeper.

However, there have been widespread reports about the idea of bringing forward his arrival to January given the uncertainty surrounding the condition of mike Maignan, but those chances may have just decreased.

Gian Piero Gasperini spoke after Atalanta’s friendly against AZ Alkmaar and revealed that Juan Musso has sustained a problem: “Yesterday morning his ankle twisted at home, it’s swollen, luckily there’s no fracture but it’s just a sprain. He needs to be evaluated for the Spezia game,” he said.

If previously Atalanta were not convinced of depriving themselves of their second goalkeeper Sportiello, now Musso’s condition must be evaluated carefully and could significantly hinder Milan’s plans.

A possible outsider in the story is Antonio Mirante as the experienced third choice goalkeeper did well in Dubai and at Milanello, and could start against PSV tonight too.
