CM: Injury should force Milan into January winger signing – the stand-out name

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have suffered another bad injury blow as Alexis Saelemaekers was forced to leave the field in the first part of the match against Empoli, which means a signing could now be brought forward.

According to Calciomercato.com, the checks carried out yesterday morning revealed a partial tear to the medial collateral ligament so now the Belgian international will follow a conservative therapy plan and the recovery time will not be short.

The Rossoneri will be forced to return to the market in January to give coach Stefano Pioli a new alternative on the right, with the scouting department having provided Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara with a long list of names.

Among the ones that stands out the most is Gustav Isaksen of FC Midtjylland. So far he has been the protagonist of a great start to the season with 11 appearances, 4 goals and 1 assist in the league and 2 appearances with 1 goal in the Europa League.

He impressed against Lazio in the Europa League with two assists and a penalty won, and his valuation is around €5m. Milan will decide in the coming days whether to present an offer.

  2. I don’t buy what this article is selling. All injured players should be back by the time the window opens in January for that position barring any setbacks. Unless a purchase was already being considered prior to the injuries, there is no reason to rush a purchase that is better made in the summer. The January window tends to force teams to overpay for players so the summer window makes more sense to reinforce the right side.
