Inter chief Marotta responds to question about possible future at AC Milan

By Euan Burns -

Inter chief Beppe Marotta has responded jokingly to a question about him potentially working for AC Milan in the future.

Marotta was on stage to receive the Rosa Comuna award (via Iotifo Inter) and he was asked a question by the president of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana, who is an AC Milan fan, about the possibility of a future at Milan after he feels finished with his work at Inter.

The Nerazzurri CEO Sport responded: “My journey is almost over. After Inter I’m finished, so I’m resting.”

Whilst there has never been a suggestion that Marotta would take up a role with Milan, fans can perhaps be pleased with the idea that he may soon retire. Marotta has been able to operate very impressively for Inter in the transfer market and is a big part of why they finished 19 points ahead of Milan.
Marotta has regularly been able to secure players on free transfers or for less of a fee than many expected, and that is continuing into the new season with Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi set to join for free this summer.
Milan will be hoping for a successful summer of their own to challenge for the Serie A title.

  1. He signs players away from his immediate opponents.
Did they really need Thuram? Nope
    Hakan? Nope
Do they really need Taremi or Zielinski? Nope
Do his opponents need them more than Inter and does it force them to have to spend way more money to add to equal value their squad?

    Yes it does.

    Strategic signings.

While we ponder and guess for a third summer in a row. He has 2 signings done and an extension to a top player in the works.

They are ran by an Fund yet that didn’t prevent them from making moves.

    1. Well…. Hakan kinda due to Eriksen heart attack but yea they make way better moves than us. That Thuram blunder cost us a 12 point gap.
Also, I do recall us back in the day buying people in order to not let the competition have them. Rivaldo, Gourcuff and especially Vogel comes to mind (Man Utd wanted him and he was about to sign with them).

  2. @Ollie Fisher can you please do a story about the Inter players who ordered hideous custom made champions rings for their entire squad. But managed order them all with Internazionle spelt wrong with a “t” instead of a “z”!
    Hilarious.
You can see photos of them being presented by the jeweller on his instagram @beretejewellers
