Inter boss Inzaghi praises ‘extraordinary’ Milan for Scudetto win but suggests the teams were even

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has complimented AC Milan for their Scudetto win last season but suggested that there was nothing really between the sides.

Going into the 2021-22 season not many had Milan down as being favourites for the league title despite the constant improvement shown under Stefano Pioli and the fact they fought with Inter for must of the 2020-21 campaign before falling away due to an injury crisis.

However, a run of nine clean sheets in the last 11 games of the league season and a streak of six consecutive wins meant that the Rossoneri were able to take advantage of the Nerazzurri’s slip-up in their game in hand against Bologna to go on and win the league.

Inzaghi was interviewed by DAZN ahead of the new season and he was asked by the broadcaster for his thoughts on the Scudetto battle during the last campaign, which saw his side miss out to their city rivals.

“We saw last year, we met 4 times: once we won, once they won and then we there were two draws. In the Cup we did better, they did very well in the league because they really did something extraordinary,” he said (via MilanNews).

    1. There would have much more in between them and us without their generous help from the referees. The scudetto would have been ours already in early May but who cares. Winners win, losers whine.
