Comparing the remaining four fixtures for Scudetto rivals AC Milan and Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter are locked in a battle for the Scudetto that keeps having twists and turns, and the latest one came last night against Bologna.

Inter’s defeat last night at the Stadio Dall’Ara means that the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri have played the same number of games and the red half of the city are leading by two points, with four games left in an intense and unpredictable season.

MilanNews writes how next weekend Milan host a Fiorentina side who have suffered three consecutive defeats (against Juventus in the Coppa Italia, plus Salernitana and Udinese in Serie A) including a 4-0 loss last night. That game kicks off at 15:00 CEST on Sunday, while Inter will play away at Udinese at 18:00 CEST against a side that inflicted the hammering on La Viola.

Matchday 36 will see Milan go to Hellas Verona, while Inter instead hosts Andreazzoli’s Empoli and will play two days earlier than Stefano Pioli’s side because they have a Coppa Italia final against Juventus the following Tuesday to fit in.

The penultimate game of the season will see Milan’s final home game against Atalanta, one that will be very tense given the recent questionable home record against La Dea and the fact they are pushing for a European spot. Inter host Cagliari after that who most likely will still be fighting for survival.

Finally, the last round of the season sees Milan travel to Reggio Emilia to face Sassuolo who have already beaten the Rossoneri this year. Inter are at San Siro against Sampdoria who might also be fighting for survival.

  1. We have tougher fixtures on paper, but I am quite certain Inter will have tough time against Udinese who is playing in some form right now. Should they drop the points there, we can even afford dropping points elsewhere, because I am not certain we can win all four.

But, this is a true test of our championship credentials. If you want to win the Scudetto, you have to take on the tough opposition and win.

  2. Fiorentina kinda in a slump now and Udinese is on fire so if we could win against Fio and Inter somehow dropped points then we’ll be at 4-5 points advantage and the next 3 matches would be much much easier as a win and 2 draws was enough for us regardless what Inter does.

  3. The crucial game is against Fiorentina. We must win this game…Inter would be against the wall if Milan goes +5 points before their clash against Udinese….If Milan wins Fiorentina,Inter will drop points at Udine.
But guys everything is in Milan’s hands…Unacceptable not to win all four remaining games

  4. If only Pioli will tell Leao to pass the ball into the box , rather than trying to score from a narrow angle. Then Milan chance of winning will increase, against Lazio, Milan would have won big if leao wasn’t going for personal glory. It nerve wracking the way Milan plays, hopefully Milan win all four matches and silence Hakan for good!!

  5. Absolutely true, Milan have tougher games on paper, but Inter and Napoli blew it in the same week (you don’t get luckier than that).
fiorentina is the most important game; win and go 5 points clear puts tremendous pressure on inter plus they’d definitely drop points following a jittery display against udinese.

I’d like to commend kalulu & Tomori
pioli should field rebic and ibra instead of brahim & giroud in the next game

    1. I also think Krunic has to be there at CAM cos I finally see why Pioli sticked with him earlier in the season. He is unremarkable but wasn’t really a glaring problem like post Covid Diaz.

  6. Without overlooked La viola, the last 3 games will be crucial. Verona will be tough, remember first met in San Siro we almost lost by trailing 2 goal. Atalanta always trouble us, and Sassuolo especially Berrardi’s hobby is netting a goal against us.

  7. We need to pounce on Fiorentina early and hopefully get a goal in first 10-15 minutes of match to keep their confidence low after their 3 losses. I think that would be huge for us and could dictate rest of the game in our favor.

Inter is without Hakan v Udine because he picked up a yellow v Bologna yesterday so that is great news for us too (as well as Udine being pretty hot).

Right now as it stands, we actually win the Scudetto if we win 3 of our final 4 and draw 1 (because we own the tiebreaker over Inter due to head to head — THANK YOU VERY MUCH GIROUD!). So if we can beat La Viola and Inter drop points again, that would be A HUGE step toward Scudetto!

  8. Can inter ease past in form udinese that shower misery on fiorentina
Milan should fight the for their glory against fiorentina

  9. I may be hated for this comment but goals are getting hard to come by. Krunic in the ACM role when we played Inter may be our best option. At least his work rate will help in the center of the pitch. I have no faith in Diaz there and Kessie did ok but wanted to drop too far back while on the offensive and too far forward when on the defemsive.

Leao needs to sit in my mind and rebic played. Leao is not a team player.

    1. It is true, Leao is not a team player and that increases Milan goal drought and wonder if the coaches are not seeing it. It is evident why the likes of Barcelona score more goals with ease as a result of team work.

  10. Thanl gpd none of you here is oUr coach…..Milan will win it all, I dont care about inter matches, Milan will play to win it all
