Inter defender Skriniar admits Milan deserved Scudetto win: “They had very difficult games”

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter defender Milan Skriniar has admitted that AC Milan deserved to win the Scudetto last season because of the way they ended the campaign.

There has been a lot of talk about how Milan’s 2-1 victory over Inter in the derby back in February was a big part of the reason why they went on and won the league title, after Olivier Giroud’s brace engineered a comeback win.

That win reopened the battle to become champions, sparking Milan into a ruthless run that eventually saw them finish top of the pile after winning their last six games of the season, with nine clean sheets in their final 11 games too.

There is a lot of talk surrounding the future of Skriniar potentially being away from Inter given his current contract with the Nerazzurri will expire at the end of this season, but he gave an interview to DAZN during which he spoke about last season’s heartbreak after they did not win the title.

“There was a lot of disappointment but we told ourselves that we have won two trophies and that not having won the Scudetto must be more determination to start preparing and try to win this year,” he said (via PianetaMilan).

“We don’t want to hear the voices, they just make us lose energy. We lost the derby after dominating it for 70 minutes, we missed Sassuolo who could have been decisive. Milan were very good, they had very difficult games in the end and they won them: there is also their merit and not just our demerit.”
