Sole 24 Ore: Investcorp turn to Inter after disappointment in attempts to buy Milan

Investcorp could end up buying a football club in Milano after all but not AC Milan, who they were linked with purchasing at the beginning of last year.

Towards the end of last season, Investcorp emerged as the most likely company to buy Milan from Elliott Management, but then reservations over how the deal would be financially structured slowed proceedings down considerably.

La Repubblica recently did an interview with Carmine Villani, who is the managing director of MFO (Multi Family Office Equity Partners), a company that allegedly supported Investcorp in their offer for the acquisition of Milan.

During that interview, he said that they could have guaranteed ‘the subsequent investment on the market of 300-400 million, to immediately bring the team back to the highest level in Europe, as its history deserves’.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore (via MilanNews), Investcorp turned to Inter after failing to buy Milan from Elliott Management and they worked on the deal until last December before admitting defeat on that front too.

However, the paper state that the Bahrain-based group have reinvigorated their interest in the Nerazzurri who could change owners at the end of the season if a top four finish is not achieved.

A possible consortium of investors from Bahrain is being put together, but everything will obviously depend on the requests and the will of the Zhang family.

  1. hahahahahahahahah this would be fantastic if they inter start to truly invest unlike us, would be so poetic

  2. Yeah because having unlimeted money has bring several Champions League titles to Man.City or psg right just because you can spend like 300 million euros in one summer or winter market does not guarantee that you win every title possible! So dont start crying about something that has not happend yet!

    1. Heeeey, look what 650M€ brought to Chelsea this seaon! At least two new managers if not anything else. 😀 😀 😀

      1. Ya who would want to be Man City or PSG. They win the league almost every year, sign the top players every year, and make the quarter finals of the CL practically every year…ya it would suck to be either of those clubs. I’d prefer having a wage cap, signing young unproven talent year in and year out and pray they develop, and if they do sell them off, and maybe win one Scudetto every 8-10 years and may or may not fight for a CL spot……Ya that sounds much better🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪. And the fools (not naming names lol) that say “look at Chelsea this season” are comical. That is the laziest argument to make and shows you know nothing about football (shocking lol) See where Chelsea is next season and see if your comment holds any water. Cheers

  3. Lol I would have loved investcorp in milan but that’s over and out…..about inter investment nothing new they already were on the look out for acquire a team….lets see how it pans out but would love investment in seria a clubs….

  4. So not only Investcorp failed to buy Milan, but they failed to buy inter as well.
This fund catching L’s left and right.
You can say anything you want in an interview but there is a reason clubs keep turning your offers down

  5. You can’t complain about not having a striker, RW, depth etc…then in the same breath say “I wouldn’t want to be Man City or PSG” LOL. That is asinine. Guess what – the reality is if you don’t have $ that is who you end up with – Origi and 41 year old Ibra – and if you have $$ you get Halaand or Neymar or M’Bappe. WTF are you guys talking about? Having $$ like Man City and PSG doesn’t automatically win you CL (although the league is almost a given) but it DOES give you the OPPORTUNITY to do so. Unlike teams with no money like us – who missed CL for 8 straight years and May miss next year??? So WTF is this garbage about not wanting to have $$ like Man City or PSG or Chelsea LOL. It’s such a stupid argument and makes zero sense. Ya I would rather have Diaz over DeBruyne, Origi over Halaand, Salesmakers over Neymar lol. Money doesn’t guarantee you victory – that is the beauty about sports – the underdog can always win. BUT you have to be able to get “IN the dance” to have the opportunity to compete – and unfortunately without $$ in todays game – 9 times out of 10 you will NOT. So stop w the stupid comments about not wanting EPL money, oil money etc…It’s such a foolish and self serving argument to try and make u feel better instead of facing the reality of the CURRENT situation – we don’t have $$ like those teams and it is what it is. But don’t attempt to bash teams that do – you sound like a dude who got rejected by his high school crush – then you say “well I didn’t want her anyways” while you cry like a little girl and listen to the mix-tapes you created for her. Fkn Stupid.
