Francesco Camarda of Italy

Italy U21 Coach admits Camarda could be included in European Championship squad

Francesco Camarda has regularly found himself on the fringes of the AC Milan squad, and due to his rapid progression, he could be given an Under 21 Italy call-up.

Seeing young players play above their age group is not a new thing, after all it happens even as a child. If you’re good enough you’re old enough is one of the most used quotes in football, and when referring to Francesco Camarda, this much is true.

For years he has been playing with players much older than him, and for the next few years the case will be the same. As we enter 2030, the striker will be months away from turning 22, and will still be eligible for the Under 21 squad, and he could be given a call-up to the squad for the European Championship.

In an interview with Rai Sport, the Azzurrini coach spoke about Camarda’s chances of a call-up for the tournament, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“Certainly there is an eye on him [Camarda]. At the moment it was preferred to leave him with the Italy under-19, as we have two friendlies, while the under-19 have the qualifiers. But between now and the European Championship he will also be taken into consideration.

The striker has already made an appearance for the Under-19 squad in the current set of call-ups, coming off the bench against Wales’ U19 side, and he could be involved again tomorrow.
