Italy U21 defender Kevin Bonifazi has responded to rumours of interest from AC Milan by admitting he is flattered.
Bonifazi spent the season on loan at SPAL from Torino, and the centre-back has put in a number of impressive performances for Leonardo Semplici’s side, helping them comfortably avoid relegation.
The 23-year-old also spent the 2016-17 season at the Ferrera-based side and has been linked with a possible move to Milan this summer.
Club CEO Ivan Gazidis is believed to prefer a transfer strategy which involves buying young players with big potential, and Bonifazi fits that bill.
Responding to speculation about his future, he said: “These are things that are pleasing, but at the moment it is just a distraction for the market.
“I must think about Italy and the Euros, which is a way to make the market grow. If you do well, attention grows.”
