Rafael Leao has certainly had a difficult start to the season for AC Milan, but the Rossoneri are not even considering a sale at this point.
Talk about the Leao of old is regular, and it’s more a desperate cry to refind the player that played such a big part in winning the Scudetto. A player that ultimately seems a million miles away at this point.
This season we have seen few glimpses of that player, but for nearly €8 million per season, there has to be a higher level delivered consistently, which is why Paulo Fonseca and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are searching for an answer.
Gazzetta dello Sport describes the problem as paradoxical because there is no obvious cure to the current problems. With Ibra showing at Milanello yesterday, the main focus was to help the Portuguese find his old self, trying to mediate between the head coach and star player.
The report states that the winger felt ‘humiliated’ against Brugge, but he is still ready to play for a place. In fact, he is ready to make sacrifices, and he is ready to reduce his focus on his music to reach his former levels.
As well as this, Leao has made himself available for extra training, and whilst it will be a long journey, the right steps are being laid out. The steps to making the Portuguese winger one of the best once again.
For this reason, there are no thoughts of a sale in January, if anything were to happen, perhaps, it would be a loan, but Gazzetta states that a June departure could be considered, but is certainly not being openly discussed.

I hope he does live up to that promise.
I can see how Leao may have felt frustrated to be subbed out after what he could have felt was one of gods better efforts in a game. He wears his heart on his sleeve.
The European opinion of a player is always dictated by their value. “Oh he costs 8mil he must do better”. “Oh he cost 1mil hes doing great”.
Its actually annoying reading Slanted opinion articles like this.
Hes either doing good or bad. Stop putting the value next to opinions.
If mike magnian cost was 10m/y would he be doing good or bad based on these europeans opinions?
If pulisic cost 100m would he be good or bad?
LOL. Ridiculous. Only an idiot would ignore the value/price when comparing things. You don’t buy a phone, pc, car, house or anything without taking the price into consideration so why would you ignore that when comparing players?
There’s a thing called “price-performance ratio”. Google it if you honestly don’t know it.
It will be Milan who loose his value if they sell him in January at this Form(that Milan considers)
Leao is performing well at National team than Milan. He will always find a top European club or he will also go on free and stay focused on his album’s than Milan.
Better way is make him play well than just reporting useless news publicly by coach and management. And sell him at good form but that kind of management doesn’t exist
Honestly I dnt like the way the media is treating Leo I know Leo is pure for Milan for that those betrayed players like Hakan,Kessie and Dollaroma nobody expected that Leo will renew last time but he did because he loves Milan every player has up and down but they support, motivate and courage to deliver…than this negative attitude towards him
“In fact, he is ready to make sacrifices, and he is ready to reduce his focus on his music to reach his former levels.” The fact this is even an issue is mind boggling. Sell this guy next summer please, and bring in a professional football player in his place.
It’s not like he’s spending 24/7 on music
Leao said that? If that’s right then he probably needs a break – maybe some time in Futuro.. not much use to Milan at the moment, if that’s what he thinks it’s going to take
Wtf with this articles pushing to destabilize milan… wishing Leao, as “struggling” as he’s been he’s till at the top of serieA players in goalscoring participations…
As many. Adjusting to the new system takes time and unfortunently …there as not been enough consistent games..
Let’s just chill and encourage positively lead…. he’s a milanista, he likes the city, the club, he’s style of lay is what it is and when the form is bad its easier to criticize….. he’s earn it.. he has to improve… but..let’s relax… the world wishes they had lead in their team…
I’m buying up the Leao stock. He’ll be back with a vengeance.
The way we move the ball and swing it ( at a SNAIL’S PACE) certainly does not help Leao to perform at his best. We need to move the ball quicker to create 2v1,3v2,1v1 isn’t that the idea of the game ? MOVE THE DAMN BALL !!!!! WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE COACH ,HE DOES NOT SEE THIS !!!!
Leao did not have a bad game against Brugge, statistically he completed the most dribbles on his team. It is not his fault his teammates did not convert the chances he created.
There was one play where he passed instead of tried the shot, that is a testament of his self esteem at the moment. Milan fans have been so critical of Leao that we have become a detriment to the player’s performance.
Let us not forget, Loftus Cheek was also taken off. This made all the difference in the Brugge game.
“completed the most dribbles on his team”
Too bad you don’t win matches with who makes most dribbles. Without the end product the dribbles are useless. Check what Okafor did: first dribble AND a great pass on a silverplate to Reijnders who couldn’t miss that sitter. THAT’S how you do it.
I hope he will be 100% rapper/musician/singer whatever you called it
Either Leao or Theo will be sold in the summer.
This has nothing to do with skill or needing more training. It’s a personality problem. He is too worried about how the fans perceive him on the field. He worries too much about making a mistake and being embarrassed, which is part of the game. Until he can mentally disconnect himself from the world on the outside during the game, he will never be able to hustle and take risks like the great players.
