Journalist believes AC Milan could beat Napoli to Icardi signing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could disrupt Napoli’s plot to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter, according to renowned journalist Paolo Condo.

Icardi is seemingly destined to leave the Rossoneri’s city rivals this summer, with the Nerazzurri having already splashed out over €70m on his replacement Romelu Lukaku.

Shock reports earlier in the week linked Milan with a move for Icardi amid reports that the player wants to remain in Milan.

Inter chief Beppe Marotta is apparently not keen on reinforcing a direct competitor for the Scudetto, such as Juventus and Napoli who have shown interest as well, so a sale to Milan could help fix the issues of both parties.

Condo has provided his take on the situation to Radio 24, suggesting that Milan could swoop late and land the Argentine.

“Napoli will probably let the ultimatum [for Icardi’s sale] expire and will wait for the Argentine, because the opportunity to let him work with Ancelotti is too tempting,” Condo said.

“The thing that could spoil is an offer from Milan, given that the player wants to stay in Milan.”
