Journalist claims Marseille will ask for 22-year-old Milan forward on loan

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao is in the contention for a move away from the Rossoneri on loan, as per new reports.

According to reports from Portuguese football pundit Pedro Almeida (via Football Italia), Olympique de Marseille will ask for the 22-year-old striker on loan for next season as his future remains uncertain after an inconsistent season.

He is said to be on the books of Marseille president Pablo Longoria, who is on a mission to reinforce the team’s squad to contend for Ligue 1 next season after the departure of their star player Florian Thauvin.

Leao appeared 40 times across Milan’s 2020-21 season, scoring 7 and assisting 6 across all competitions. The former Lille striker perhaps needs some time away from the pressure of AC Milan’s demands to rediscover his form and there may not be many better places than Ligue 1, from where he was scouted for the big move to Italy and succeeded with Lille.

  1. I think it would be good for him to go on loan to a club where people will depend on him to deliver results every game.

It will do wonders for his mental growth to feel that weight of responibility for the score line on his shoulders.

In Milan he is a Joker and that only perpetuates his nonchalant apporoach to the game.

That being said, MIlan can’t really afford to keep such an expensive asset out on loan.

    1. He should be sold, and if is loaned it should be to serie A or other big league, not the French league, that league is way inferior tha serie a, you will send him there and he is goin to do great there but then, he will come back to Italy and have the same ups and down as before, not every futbol player can play in serie a and Leao is one of those, he should be sold
