Journalist claims Milan could make last minute move for James Rodriguez

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could make a move in the final stages of the mercato to try and sign Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, one journalist claims.

The Rossoneri are running out of time to get the creative forward they are looking for between now and the September 2, with a deal for Angel Correa seemingly dead in the water.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recently states that any hopes of signing the Argentine could be over altogether as the two sides ‘have never been so far apart’ in negotiations.

As a result, Milan could turn their attentions to Colombia playmaker James Rodriguez, according to transfer pundit Alfredo Pedulla (as cited by MilanNews.it).

The 28-year-old will be out for the few weeks due to a muscle injury picked up in Real Madrid’s last league games, but that might not stop Milan making their move, the report claims.

Rodriguez spent the last two seasons on loan at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, amassing 15 goals in 67 competitive games for the Bavarians, but they chose not to use their option to buy and as such he returned to the Spanish capital.

Pedulla notes that Napoli tried hard to sign the former Porto man, who was actually offered to Milan a few weeks on July 25, and he could become a ‘last minute option’ for the Rossoneri.
