AC Milan are not close to agreeing a deal with Napoli star Dries Mertens over a free transfer this summer, according to one journalist.
Earlier on Monday a report emerged from Spain claiming Milan are in advanced talks with the entourage of Mertens and an announcement could arrive next week.
Mertens continues to be strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, but TodoFichajes insist that it is the Rossoneri who have swooped for the free transfer of the Belgium international, and that talks are so far ahead that an announcement could arrive next week.
According to the latest from Calciomercato.com reporter Daniele Longo though, there are no confirmations that a deal is in fact close to being agreed between Milan and Mertens.
The 32-year-old has 121 goals and 73 assists for Napoli in 311 games across all competitions (via Transfermarkt) and has also been linked with a move to Milan’s city rivals Inter.
