Journalist describes ‘different’ Paqueta in the last month at Milanello

By Nikita Fesyukov -

Serie A is coming back soon and teams are in full preparation for the resumption of the league campaign. The forced break will give some players the opportunity to catch a second breath and try and prove their worth on the field. One of these players could be Lucas Paqueta.

The Brazilian midfielder had a very anonymous season until the Coronavirus pandemic halted Serie A action and will look to overshadow the negative months with a positive final rush that could perhaps finally silence the rumours of a possible departure, with Benfica and Fiorentina looming in the background and observing his situation with interest.

And it seems that the 22-year-old is serious about his intentions and wants to prove his worth once Serie A resumes. Journalist Peppe Di Stefano spoke to Sky Sport 24 (via milannews.it) and described how the Brazilian talent has been expressing himself in the past month during training at Milanello.

“Lucas has been insufficient this year. He perhaps paid for the excess of willingness to play anywhere that led him to become good for everyone but indispensable for no one,” Di Stefano said.

“Last January he was one step away from a departure but instead he decided to try to convince with the Milan shirt and since then, after a quarantine that he will never forget for the birth of his first child, Lucas has been very different at Milanello and distinguished himself for his intensity and application.

“He will have more than one chance in these months and they will be real exams for him. It is unlikely that Milan will sell him already this summer, given the purchase price of 18 months ago (35 million euros) but everything will depend on his performances,” he concluded.
