Journalist urges Milan to avoid ‘overloading’ Adli and Pobega in midfield

The season opener is approaching for AC Milan and there could still be some movement on the mercato. As highlighted by pundit Luca Serafini, the midfield is a department that could need reinforcement.

Stefano Pioli currently has Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali, Rade Krunic, Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli at his disposal for the midfield. The latter two have returned from their respective loan spells and still need a little more time to adapt.

Franck Kessie’s departure has inevitably left a hole in the midfield and there are different opinions on whether Adli and Pobega can fill his shoes. As stated by pundit Luca Serafini for MilanNews, it would be unwise by Milan to put too much pressure on them.

“Numerically, the Milan squad is almost completed. In terms of quality, we cannot ignore Ibra’s prolonged absence and Kessie’s farewell. Overloading the shoulders of Pobega and especially Adli is not an intelligent move. Their acclimatization will have to be methodical and gradual, as Pioli has shown before,” he stated.

The role which Kessie had, in the midfield tandem, is a rather delicate one and the feeling is that Adli might not be the one. He has more attacking qualities, suited for the attacking trio. Pobega, on the other hand, could be a better fit but there’s no doubt he needs time.
