‘Contacts with Allegri’ – Journalist claims Milan would sack Fonseca with derby loss

A journalist has suggested that the AC Milan leadership are already thinking about who might have to come in and replace Paulo Fonseca, and that contacts with Max Allegri are underway.

The Milan players were jeered quite heavily on Tuesday night as they went to thank the Curva Sud for their support after the 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League, and that was a sign of the current mood surrounding the team.

There were only 60,000 fans present anyway due to a combination of ticket prices and a poor start to the season, but those who stayed until the very end of the loss made their feelings known towards the team.

According to Maurizio Pistocchi, the defeat against Liverpool – one that came after many errors in the defensive phase again – the future of Fonseca hangs on the derby against Inter on Sunday night at San Siro.

Should another defeat arrive, the fate of the coach would be sealed and he would be sacked after what will have been just six games in charge and just one win, the 4-0 against Venezia five days ago.

The Rossoneri management ‘have been in contact with Max Allegri for some time’, who is considered the right man to fix the defensive phase. The coach has ‘already given his approval to a sensational return to the Milan bench’.

  1. If Milan do get Allegri I hope it would only be as an interim till the end of the season. Allegri sucks but anyone is better than Fonseca at this point!

  2. Allegri isn’t the best for Milan now, they need to give Fonseca time and charge the players. The best coach i wish for Milan is De zerbi.
    Up Milan

    1. Are you sure you are watching Milan latest the only thing that is done right is back pass, i have never seen Milan play with that much fear even with pioli

  3. If you get allegri. I’m no longer watching this team. You replace a mistake with another mistake? If that’s the case this management officially knows nothing

  4. Alegri really? Who is running this club dumb and dumber? You have a lot better coaches out there who are out of work. Klopp is free for one. Tuchel..
Btw De Zerbi with Marseille is matching PSG in France with a much cheaper and weaker team.
The most frustrating thing with Milan is that even when they have great opportunities in front of them just out of pure luck, they still manage to somehow miss on it. Thats how incompetent this management is. And thats how they missed on dozens of good managers and dozens of good free/cheap players that could have taken the team on a different level.

    1. “The most frustrating thing with Milan is that even when they have great opportunities in front of them just out of pure luck, they still manage to somehow miss on it.”

Good one 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣. Really wise management

    2. Why do you assume Klopp and Tuchel would want to coach AC Milan, given the clubs they’ve already coached? You think they’ll settle for our coach wage cap and 20M player cap? Lol. Come on. The coaches we should have brought in were one of Motta or De Zerbi (or Conte if the bold decision had been made to sell Leao and Chukwueze this past summer and convert the squad to a 3 back system). Those ships have now all sailed.

  5. Why would anyone in their right mind hire allegri?
Can’t develop shít, his teams play horrendous football, giant wage, balding, and honestly 0 charisma.
    All the cons zero pros

          1. But they didn’t want to focus only on defending.
Pioli did do it once against inter in that godawful 1-0 performance in February last year. We’re gonna see a lot of that if maxy comes.

  6. The answer is staring us in the face. Get Sarri…the team looked good for 7 minutes and then slowly collapsed…you get the feeling that they don’t know what to do or how to play. There is no structure or plan or identity. Sarri will quickly sort that out.

    1. Yes Sarri is best choice for now… he know how to play really agresive style + his defence is good.. he play good football with Lazio (CL with their squad) and great with napoli (when there was only Juve good team) and also Chelsea was OK.. for mi choice no.1

  7. Well Gerry I hope you’re happy with the mistake you made as you prepare yourself and ya monkey mate Zlats to make yet a other Mistake.

De Zerbi was waiting for the phone to ring while wearing a Milan scarf round his neck but he had to settle for the farmers league (which he will win with Marseille quite comfortably btw)…..

  8. The whole process has been a disaster . This management want to do everything on the cheap. De Zerbi was available and wanted the job and he was overlooked. Always searching for bargains while everyone else is buying strong players . Disappointing to say the least

  9. Even before the season, and before Fonseca, I always taught Alegri makes sense. Proven winner, tactically pragmatic, and also quite foxy in CL matches. Also, he football style suits Milan… I know is bad but defend well and kick the ball to Leao seems quite a plan.

    1. It doesn’t suit Milan. And we could find a dozen coaches who would do it better than maxy. The whole point in firing pioli is to get a new coach to drive forward not hire an old fossil that wants to play dead football. Talk about 2 steps back

  10. Terzic or however you spell his name, BVB’s manager they sacked last season after leading them to a champions league final would be an interesting hire. Ik he won’t even be considered because he is not Italian. Milan didn’t bring in a dominant CDM like they needed. Hell, they could’ve kept Pioli and brought back Diaz and brought in a Kezzie type midfielder and a lot of the problems would have been fixed. Royal might have technical ability, but his speed is worrisome. I prefer Calabria, but he is injured now. Definitely having a chemistry problem, that is what happens when the players get the ball and hold it looking around the pitch and seeing nothing available. Liverpool were a solid unit that played as one and it took Kloop a few years to develop what Slot is benefiting from today. Milan need to spend more on a single player instead of searching for bargains that they hope become what they are wanting.

  11. They should get Tomas Tuchel. He has some of the same defensive characteristics as Allegri but with better football going forward. We also need German coaches in Serie A!

  12. Klopp doesn’t want to manage right now. Tuchel isn’t stable.
    De Zerbi’s teams can’t defend.
    Sarri is a fraud.

I’m not sure how anyone is comparing Conte to Allegri. Allegri is consistent and stable. He’s also got a good record with youngsters. Conte is useless in Europe and will fight with the board. Allegri won’t.

Allegri is the best option outside of Klopp and Guardiola, who are both out of reach. I hate seeing goals conceded. The foundation to our greatest ever team was THE best defence of all time. There’s no way Allegri would have agreed to Emerson. This is the guy who benched Danillo.

  13. i would want allegri fonseca out de zerbie has found a new club klopp said he wanted 1 year rest from football and ac milan has one of the worst defensive team in serie a and the fact is that ac milan has had the greatest cb in history also he would want good defenders unlike emerson

  14. Allegri as a team manager would suit Milan. I don’t believe that the current squad are happy with Fonseca being their coach. They are making Fonseca look bad despite his good intentions. Fonseca came out to comment that the players didn’t stick to the game plan. So, this is obvious to me that no matter what Fonseca plans the team will wreck it on the day.
It’s up to management to source the right coach the players are willing to work with. I am sure with the right manager the team will rise to lift this great club where it belongs.

  15. I think first set to be fired should be those who appointed him and did all the madness in the summer transfer (kept negotiating for month, sign whack Royal to replace Calabria, bringing in a young Pavlovic without having an experience guide beside him).
Replace those guy with those with experience and proper network as managers
