Journalist tells us interesting back story on Simakan-Milan saga – Elliott had approved new bid

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had the go-ahead to raise their offer for Mohamed Simakan but chose not to, we have been told.

Heading into the final day of the window it seemed certain that the Rossoneri would welcome a new centre-back, but after intense links with Simakan throughout the day – plus other targets – nobody ended up arriving.

We conducted an exclusive interview with Pietro Mazzara of MilanNews, and he revealed an interesting nugget of information regarding the 20-year-old Strasbourg starlet.

“During deadline day, Milan made an offer to Strasbourg for Simakan, but in the end the decided to stop the negotiations because they think that in January, probably, a chance is going to come up,” he said.

“The owners gave Maldini and Massara the possibility to raise the offer for Simakan, but they chose not to do it for technical and cost-based reasons.”
