GdS: Napoli join Milan and Man Utd in Alvarez race – the latest including the player’s preference

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter face competition from rivals Napoli to sign River Plate striker Julian Alvarez, according to a report.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are moving in advance to replace Lorenzo Insigne who will leave at the end of the season, with Dries Mertens and Hirving Lozano also facing very uncertain futures. Alvarez seems like a good profile as he was the top scorer in the league for River Plate with 18 goals as they won the title.

He has a release clause of €20m in his deal expiring in December 2022, while the 21-year-old wants €2m net per season from his next club and is pushing to leave South America immediately because he wants to move to Europe as soon as possible.

Alvarez’s agent Hidalgo was in Milan for four days in early January to continue contacts with Inter and Milan as the Nerazzurri are thinking of a Lautaro-style signing while Milan scouts have constantly given positive reports on him, but both consider him more an option for the summer.

The striker is fascinated by the idea of playing at San Siro and appreciates the interest of Milan, but inclusion of Napoli and the prospect of taking the field at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona are equally welcome for the Argentine player who has grown up – like most of his compatriots – with Diego in his heart.

Atalanta have also shown tentative interest, while Atletico Madrid were among the first to send their scouts on a mission and the agent also had talks in Spain with Real Sociedad, while Manchester United are keen and OGC Nice are in Ligue 1 too. In short, it is a fierce race.

  1. Cheap to get yet no one wants him

So many clubs from whole europe linked yet richer clubs did not move for him

Bet he wants high salary. Remember if you give young player high salary it will only raise..
Many clubs now cannot sell since no one wants to buy a player on overpriced wages like Martial, or Dybala

  2. Inter have made contact with Juventus’ Paulo Dybala, claim GDS. They have made assurances of a five-year deal and the player is now reflecting on his future at the Old Lady…… see we become arsenal buy youth while other buy proven one .
