The fan who racially abused Mike Maignan before AC Milan’s game against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium has been revealed, a report claims.
According to Calciomercato.com, the Juve fan was identified by the Digos of Turin. Last Sunday, during the warm-up at the Allianz before the match with Milan, he targeted the Rossoneri goalkeeper Maignan with a series of racist insults, calling him a ‘negro’ repeatedly and a ‘monkey’ too, which understandably provoked outrage and anger on social media.
The scene was recorded and ended up on social media, but the cameras installed in the stadium too helped identify him. The fan has been suef for incitement to racial hatred, and is a worker and trade unionist from Rovigo and is a member of the Juventus Club Gaetano Scirea in Castagnaro (Verona).
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office will not open a file against the fan because the incident has been reported to the police authorities already which is a level higher. A ban from the stadium for a long period will be triggered, a decision that Juve can take independently.
🗣 "It's actually comical sometimes how counter-effective Italian football is at dealing with racism."
