CorSport: Defender open to Milan renewal but Juventus and Raiola plan to complicate things

By Oliver Fisher -

Captain Alessio Romagnoli is open to renewing his contract with AC Milan but his agent has different plans, according to a report.

According to what today’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes, Romagnoli is ready to negotiate the extension of his contract even if it will not be a simple operation. The defender likes the idea of staying at Milan where he is the captain of the team, he is happy at the club and does not have a burning desire to find a new team.

The ex-Roma man currently gets a salary above €5m net per season though, which means it is unlikely Milan will keep him on the same salary in their next offer and instead they are expected to ask him to shave a couple of million off his pay.

Agent Mino Raiola of course looks after the interests of Romagnoli and he is unlikely to let him take a pay cut, especially with Juventus in the background. The Bianconeri have been interested in Romagnoli’s situation for some time now and they could attempt to sign him on a free to replace the veteran Chiellini.
