AC Milan are close to being able to announce the renewal of head coach Stefano Pioli, according to a report.
MilanNews reports that the management see Pioli as being a key man in the rebirth of Milan because he was able to reunite the club and have the team playing high-level football and now fighting for trophies after a long period in the wilderness.
He has led Milan to their best ever start to a Serie A season in the current campaign which says a lot about the high levels he has been able to achieve. However, his contract expires at the end of the season so Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are looking to address the situation.
Pioli is expected to sign a new contract that will bind him to Milan for another two seasons plus the option for a third and the agreement is imminent, with a practically doubled salary from the current €2m net per year to €3.5m plus bonuses.
