Kalulu believes the ‘first team that makes a mistake’ will pay in Milan vs. Spurs – video

By Oliver Fisher -

Pierre Kalulu believes that he will gain much-needed experience tonight against Spurs by facing some world class forwards.

Kalulu is almost certain to be in the starting line-up for the game against Tottenham who have a forward trio which includes Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, as well as former Juventus man Dejan Kulusevski.

It will be a litmus test for the new three-man defence that Stefano Pioli has been using, and Kalulu spoke to the microphones of Milan TV to preview the clash.

“The Champions League motivates you a lot, it’s a competition that I wanted to play as a child. Now I still feel the emotion, I’m sure there will be a great atmosphere before the match with a full San Siro,” he said.

Does the victory against Torino give you confidence? “Winning always gives you confidence. It’s true that when you don’t win you face the week of valour with a little less morale, but when you get closer to the match you can’t wait to play, even against Turin who are a difficult team to face.

“Every victory is a little more energy and more smiles are seen. The positive results certainly help us, but I have to say that the overall attitude has improved a lot. When we win, I’m happy.”

On Tottenham: “It will be a very tough match and with a lot of energy, they have high-level players both in attack and in defence. The rhythm, with the English teams, is always very high. We too like to play with rhythm, counter-attacks and physicality, the first team that makes a mistake then pays.

“I like watching football in general, high-level players, whether they are with clubs or the national team, we know them. Knowing them on the field will be an extra experience, facing such strong players gives you the measure of your level and what you can give. With Tomori we still have some time to talk about the details.”
