MN: Kalulu shows his intelligence and athleticism with a tackle that drew an ovation

By Oliver Fisher -

Last season was very much a breakout campaign for Pierre Kalulu at AC Milan and he picked up where he left off with an impressive display against Udinese.

MilanNews writes how the 22-year-old showed excellent composure in the game at San Siro on Saturday evening and there was a tackle to deny Gerard Deulofeu on the break that literally drove the fans crazy.

While cutting out the passing lane that would have provided Success with a simple chance, Kalulu closed in on the Spanish winger and ended the danger, once again proving he is an intelligent defender with great athleticism.

A standing ovation followed from the San Siro crowd who recognised the importance of such an intervention. In certain situations Tomori’s aggression put Milan in danger but the beauty of having two quick and strong defenders is that it is very hard to get in the clear in behind.

The pairing with Fikayo is now very close-knit and – despite a busy fixture list – there are no thoughts about breaking up a partnership that was crucial in winning the Scudetto.
