Tuttosport: Kalulu ready to step up against Napoli with Romagnoli unlikely to recover

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessio Romagnoli trained separately yesterday and therefore remains in strong doubt for Sunday’s match against Napoli, with Pierre Kalulu ready to step up again.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) explains this morning, the muscle injury remedied by the Rossoneri captain in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Inter is not one that worries any of the medical staff, but he may not recover for Sunday’s game with no intention of risking him.

It is likely therefore that Romagnoli will not be part of Stefano Pioli’s squad for the trip to Naples or at the best he could start from the bench, which is why Kalulu should be fielded alongside Fikayo Tomori from the first minute after the good performance from the pair against Inter.

Theo Hernandez will be the left-back and Davide Calabria the right-back to complete the back four, with Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer in midfield. In attack, Rafael Leao is certain of a place, and for the other two positions there is the usual battle between Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemakers on the right, while in the middle Franck Kessie seems to be the favourite over Brahim Diaz to play behind Olivier Giroud.
