AC Milan secured a first leg advantage in their Champions League quarter-final tie against Napoli as they won 1-0 at San Siro last night.

Ismaël Bennacer’s goal before half-time was enough to give the Rossoneri victory over Luciano Spalletti’s side, and it sets up an intriguing second leg back in Naples next week with everything to play for.

Below are the best stats from last night’s game, via the official website

➤ Milan are unbeaten in each of their six Champions League games against Italian opponents (W3, D3), keeping five clean sheets in the process.

➤ Ismaël Bennacer is the fourth African player to score for Milan in UEFA Champions League (excluding own goals), after George Weah, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari.

➤ Milan have kept five clean sheets in five consecutive UEFA Champions League games for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign, when they reached seven.

➤ Milan have won back-to-back matches against Napoli in all competitions for the first time since 2010-11 season, both in Serie A on that occasion.

➤ Ismaël Bennacer is Milan’s ninth different goalscorer in the Champions League this season, only Manchester City and Napoli (11 each) have more.

➤ Brahim Díaz is the player to have been involved in the most number of goals against Napoli this season across all competitions: three (1 goal and 2 assists).

  1. Of course we can keep clean sheets in the Champions League but not in the league….

Football as usual makes so much sense.
