Kjaer admits he is ‘dreaming’ of Milan stay as he gives huge endorsement of Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

Defender Simon Kjaer has revealed that his intention is to work hard to try and stay at AC Milan beyond the summer.

The Denmark international arrived in January on loan until the end of the season and has been impressive, gaining an opportunity due to Mateo Musacchio’s injury and grasping his chance.

Kjaer was interviewed by Tuttosport and spoke about his current condition, given that he has just recovered from a muscle injury, and his words were transcribed by MilanLive.

“The injury is a bad memory, I was all ready ready to return before the suspension. Like everyone, I had more time to recover,” he said.

“Quarantine? I am spending the days with my family, I enjoy my children, they helped me get through this moment, even if I miss Milanello.”

Kjaer cut short his time at Atalanta to join the Rossoneri on loan from Sevilla, and he reflected upon his time in Bergamo.

“Atalanta is a strong team, which plays extraordinary football. But Gasperini always told me that I played less due to tactical matters. I have always trained professionally. When the AC Milan call came I didn’t think twice.

“I get excited in certain situations, I don’t feel the pressure of San Siro, rather it loads me. I was lucky to meet mister Pioli, he believed in me. He spoke to me, asked me what I liked, even advice. No coach had made me so comfortable.”

Milan have an option to buy Kjaer at the end of his loan spell, though given the various uncertainties at management level there are doubts about whether it will be exercised.

“It is difficult today for everyone to think about what will happen next, the situation is delicate. I am training to be ready and I hope Milan will take advantage of the option to buy me. I work physically and mentally for my only dream: to stay at Milan.”
