AC Milan midfielder Rade Krunic has insisted that he and his team-mates are ‘ready to make any sacrifices needed’ for the benefit of the club.
The Rossoneri took a big step towards winning the title with a 2-0 home victory against Atalanta, their first league win against La Dea at San Siro since the 2013-14 season, and it came thanks to two goals in the second half.
It was Rafael Leao who opened the scoring when he latched onto a through ball from Junior Messias who had just come off the bench, slotting through the legs of Juan Musso, and then Theo Hernandez’s incredible solo goal with 15 minutes left on the clock sealed a huge three points.
The win means that Milan are one point away from reclaiming the Scudetto, and Krunic spoke during an interview with Milan TV after the game, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.
On always giving his best: “I think my team-mates always do it, they always give their best when they are called in. We are always ready to make any sacrifices for the team, I don’t ask what is needed, winning is the most important thing.”
On his excellent sliding challenge: “I think Theo’s goal is the most beautiful image. Mine was an important tackle, they give an extra boost to the team. Each of us does our best, then there are many in the game who are seen less, then the coach makes us see them again and we notice them better.”
On being always available to Pioli: “I am always available for the team. Whatever it takes: 1 minute, 30 or 95 I don’t care, I just care about doing my best. Then sometimes I’m wrong, maybe there are more important players than me but we all give our best and this is the most important thing that must make our fans proud.”
On his characteristics: “I also think that I have important characteristics, maybe I lack a little confidence, a few goals and assists, with a little confidence it’s much easier to play. Then it depends on the game, today I played the mid-winger and I think that is the role in which I find myself better because I can make runs without the ball and that is what the coach asked me. Then I played full-back, on the left or in the trident, it doesn’t matter to me, I’m always focused on what the coach is asking.”
On trust: “Maybe I trust when we are low, when we defend, when we have possession. I lack a little confidence in front of goal, the last 20 metres to make important plays: but today you saw that we have other players capable of doing these things. Today the fans pushed us even when we made mistakes, it is something that helps us a lot.”
