Krunic admits he understands Milan fans’ fear in honest reflection of Sampdoria game and top four hopes

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Rade Krunic has given a very honest assessment of the draw against Sampdoria and the top four battle.

The Rossoneri’s form in 2021 has dipped after a superb 2020 calendar year. Stefano Pioli’s men have lost at home to Atalanta, Juventus, Inter and Napoli and drew at San Siro against both Udinese and Sampdoria. On their travels things have been much better, but a 2-0 defeat to Spezia before the derby was damaging.

Saturday’s game against Parma provides a chance for Milan to put things right but they face a team battling for the Serie A lives meaning it will be far from an easy game, but Krunic believes there are no excuses for not putting on a much better display.

The Bosnian was interviewed by Sky Italia on Wednesday and spoke about the frustrating draw against Sampdoria and the chance to put things right at the weekend, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.

On Sampdoria: “This time we weren’t good at managing the match, we didn’t look like the usual Milan. It reminded me of the match against Spezia, we weren’t at our level, we looked like a team that didn’t want to win.”

On Parma: “A tough match awaits us, after the missteps at home we have always managed to win away, it is a symptom of a winning mentality. If we win in Parma everything is overturned again and we still have the whole season ahead of us. If we were fifth or sixth it would be a problem, but we are still second and we have everything in our hands.

“I understand the fans who are afraid after so many years that we are not in the Champions League, but we are calm, we believe in our qualities and in our way of playing. We will certainly do our best.”
